Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, Baptism is the Church's way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.

Parents who wish to have their child baptized must be registered and active (regularly attending Mass) in the parish. They will need to fill out an informational form available in the Parish Office, designate Godparents and turn in the Godparent Eligibility Certificates, as well as attend a Baptism Preparation Class. Once these steps are complete, a date for your child's Baptism will be set.

The Sacrament of Baptism is ministered:

- On the first Sunday of each month,
at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.
- On the second and fourth Sunday of each month,
at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

BAPTISMAL PREPARATION NOTES: Catholic Godparents are required to complete an Eligibility Certificate and have the certificates signed by the pastor of the parish where they are currently registered and practicing their faith. We offer a Baptismal Prep Class for parents as a way of preparing them for their child's journey of faith. Classes are normally held on the second Wednesday of the month, at 7:00 PM, in the Parish Office Conference Room. For additional information, to register for the class, or to schedule a Baptism, please call the Parish Office.

Use our parish subscription to Formed.org to learn more about the Sacrament of Baptism. Reborn - Reborn explores the deeply personal power of Baptism, bringing to light the spiritual reality for parents and godparents and, most importantly, the child being baptized. Rendered with a cinematic beauty that's become the hallmark of the Augustine Institute's film productions, Reborn presents the foundation of the Church's teaching on Baptism, with a step-by-step explanation of the rite itself, including its profound place in Scripture and Tradition.
