Deacon John Luko and his wife Pat have two grown children – Kate and JR. He was born and raised in South Philadelphia, with three sisters and one brother. He attended Sacred Heart of Jesus parochial school and Bishop John Neumann High School. After graduation, Deacon John worked for the Insurance Company of America which later became CIGNA Corp. He worked there for 37 years and retired in 2005. Deacon John was ordained a Permanent Deacon by Bishop Joseph Galante on June 11, 2005 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and was then assigned to The Nativity of Our Lord in Franklinville. In November of 2010, he was assigned to Our Lady of Lourdes Church. His Diocesan assignments have been with the Seafarers Center in Camden. Deacon John transferred from this ministry and became part of the Healthcare ministry and has been assigned to the Veterans Home and South Jersey Medical Center (now Inspira) in Vineland. He is currently assigned to JFK Hospital in Washington Township, and is also an instructor with the Diocesan Bereavement Ministry Training program.
